When personal electronics OEM Xiaomi launched its first ever electric car, it conservatively predicted that it would be able to ship 100,000 of them by the end of 2024. Now, the company is said to believe that it will hit that target far earlier than it imagined, even though it has just taken one of its vehicular production lines offline.

Xiaomi's electric vehicle (EV) project has now grown from a pipe-dream on the part of CEO Lei Jun to an actual business division with its own dealerships, service shops and delivery depots: 93, 57 and 30 of those respectively, in 31 different Chinese cities to boot, today.

The OEM plans to add 127, 78 and 23 more of each respectively by the end of 2024, the operations of which would, of course, revolve around the inaugural SU7 and its Pro or Max variants thus far. Xiaomi projected that it would fulfil at least 100,000 of their orders by the end of 2024; however, it seems that target will be in the rear view mirror by early November 2024.

That projection has been revised even in the face of the need to shut an SU7 production line down for maintenance earlier in July 2024; nevertheless, the OEM asserts it is still on track to deliver at least 10,000 vehicles by the end of the month.
