Console players may soon hit the road with Euro Truck Simulator 2 and American Truck Simulator. Both PlayStation and Xbox have quietly listed the popular trucking sims from SCS Software on their stores, hinting at a possible console release. Specific launch dates have yet to be disclosed, however.
Euro Truck Simulator 2 is one of the most popular simulation titles of all time, boasting over 670,000 user reviews with an "Overwhelmingly Positive" rating on Steam. Since its release in 2012, the game has remained a PC-exclusive. American Truck Simulator, released later, offers nearly identical gameplay but shifts the setting to the United States, allowing players to haul cargo across American highways in authentic U.S. trucks.
Recently, SCS Software teased major announcements ahead of Gamescom, though it did not specifically mention a PS5 or Xbox port. The studio stated:
"We're thrilled to have meetings lined up with representatives from major platforms, including Sony, Microsoft, and many more, across both the gaming and automotive industries. We're excited about the future and are actively working on ways to expand our presence and content offerings for both of our flagship titles."
That said, the PlayStation Store listings for Euro Truck Simulator 2 and American Truck Simulator indicate support for adaptive triggers and haptic feedback on the DualSense controller. Meanwhile, Xbox fans can expect optimization for Xbox Series X|S alongside support for Xbox One. With SCS Software present at Gamescom, fans may not have to wait long for additional details.
