Details of the Huawei P50 Pro revealed: 120 Hz quad-curved display and 200x zoom tipped for the May-bound flagship
Huawei's next premium phone will be the P50 series. Over the past week or so, leaks have revealed tidbits about the lineup, with one a few days ago showing what appears to be the rear of the phone. A new leak has now also revealed some important specs about the P50 Pro and P50 Pro+.
As revealed by leakster RODENT950, the Huawei P50 Pro will sport a display with a size in the region of 6.6" to 6.7". The display is said to be quad-curved, continuing Huawei's obsession with a design trait that's slowly losing public appeal. It will also have a 120 Hz refresh rate. According to Ross Young, the P50 Pro's display will actually be a 6.78-inch panel and will be supplied by Chinese manufacturers BOE.
Moving on, the Huawei P50 Pro will offer 66 W and 50 W charging, which we expect to be for wired and wireless modes respectively. Supposedly, Huawei has tested 135 W charging but will not implement it on the phones due to safety concerns. Under the hood of the P50 Pro and P50 Pro+ will be the Kirin 9000 or Kirin 9000E. Battery capacity is said to be in the region of 4200 mAh.
Huawei has constantly pushed the limits of smartphone photography with the P series, starting with the P20 Pro three years ago. The P50 Pro+ will continue that trend, as the phone will likely offer a massive 200x zoom from a derived 20x optical zoom setup. Release is scheduled for April/May, and the phones could very well run on Android 11-based EMUI 11.
Pro is 6.78". BOE panels. Not likely till April/May.
