DJI has plenty of new devices in the pipeline, including multiple new action cameras like the Osmo Nano, Osmo 360 and Osmo Action 6. The company could be soon expanding its microphone and drone divisions with new models, too. Arguably the most mysterious among DJI's unreleased devices is the RC Track, which was first pictured last autumn.
Originally, DJI was expected to deliver the RC Track alongside the Air 3S (curr. $1,099 on Amazon). While DJI unveiled the Air 3S in October 2024, it has never officially acknowledged the RC Track's existence. Nonetheless, the Federal Communications Commission (FCC) has now published the device's User Guide, as well as various hands-on pictures that we have embedded below. In DJI's words, the RC Track is intended for the following purposes:
The DJI RC Track is a compact remote controller that can be held and operated with one hand, featuring a positioning function. During the flight, the DJI RC Track can locate and track the aircraft in real-time, enabling automatic follow-up shooting. Equipped with multiple basic buttons and a dial, the DJI RC Track can control the aircraft.
When used with the standard remote controller when purchased together with the aircraft in a combo, users can use a dual-control mode. The DJI RC Track is used for positioning and tracking, while the pilot uses the standard remote controller for framing and shooting.
The User Guide also highlights how one can use the remote controller. Apparently, DJI designed the RC Track to be used on its own or with another conventional remote controller simultaneously through a 'transfer control' process. Moreover, the RC Track features a 1,750 mAh battery, Bluetooth, Wi-Fi and what appears to be OcuSync 3+ technology. Unfortunately, it remains to be seen at this stage whether DJI will ever release the RC Track or if has now been scrapped entirely. At any rate, more details about DJI's unusual remote control can be found below.
