Casio has released the limited edition G-Shock GA-2100HDS-7A1PRG in China. This watch, unveiled on Chinese social media site Weibo, celebrates the history of the Baiyue Bouyei people, using heritage maple dyeing techniques.
The GA-2100HDS-7A1PRG is based on the GA-2100HDS-7A, a Hidden Glow Series Vol. 2 model which was launched earlier this year. The dial and bezel match the original, with the strap making this model unique. It has a predominantly white and blue design with red accents, said to be inspired by the Guizhou province. According to Casio, there are nods to the area’s landscape and the Qianling Monkeys, which live in the region.
Casio’s G-Shock GA-2100HDS-7A has a blue phosphorescent face that glows in the dark, and a double LED backlight to make it even easier to read the watch at night. The hybrid watch has two analog hands and a dial in the 9 o’clock position indicating the weekday. On the lower right-hand side of the dial is a small digital display showing the date and information linked to various features. These include five daily alarms, hourly time signals, a 1/100th second stopwatch and a countdown timer. It measures 48.5 x 45.4 x 11.8 mm (~1.9 x 1.8 x 0.5 inches), weighs 51 g (~1.8 oz) and should run for around three years on its battery.
This limited edition model will be available exclusively at the Casio store in Guiyang, the capital city of Guizhou province. However, the original Casio G-Shock GA-2100HDS-7A watch is available in countries like the US (curr. $110 via Amazon marketplace).
