Reviews for the Asus K42JV-X1
Source: Comp Reviews

The ASUS K42JV-X1 offers a good mix of strong performance and graphics in a compact 14-inch package. Not only does it feature a Core i5 processor but also a 7200rpm 500GB hard drive. The keyboard design is also very comfortable to use but the glossy coating will easily pick up fingerprints. Graphics are good and switchable between dedicated and integrated but it is older technology that doesn't support Direct X 11 and must be switched manually.

NVIDIA GeForce GT 335M: The GeForce GT 335M offers 72 shader cores (compared to the 48 of the GT 330M) and is based on the GT215 core (GTS 350M).
Modern games should be playable with these graphics cards at low settings and resolutions. Casual gamers may be happy with these cards.

450M: Should be similar to the Core i5-520M but without AES functions.» Further information can be found in our Comparison of Mobile Processsors.
14.0": 14 inch display size is a mixture between the small formats of subnotebooks and the 15 inch standard display. The reason why so many people like displays with medium size is, that this size is not exhausting for the eyes, does not need too much energy and the laptops can be kept quite compact.» To find out how fine a display is, see our DPI List.
2.2 kg: These sub-notebooks weight less than the average of all notebooks, but represent a heavier class of weight among the sub-notebooks. 13 inch displays are normal for this class of weight.
Asus: ASUSTeK Computer Incorporated, a Taiwanese multinational company, produces motherboards, graphics cards, optical drives, PDAs, computer monitors, notebook computers, servers, networking products, mobile phones, computer cases, computer components, and computer cooling systems. The company's 2007 revenues reached US$6.9 billion. ASUS also produces components for other manufacturers. The Eee PC initiated the netbook boom in 2008.
80%: This rating is not convincing. The laptop is evaluated below average, this is not really a recommendation for purchase.
