Lenovo Y700 and ASUS ROG GL752 are one of the best budget gaming laptops if you don’t mind the bigger size or if you are actually after a larger device that can deliver a good gaming experience. The former offers better build quality thanks to the use of aluminum rather plastic which is to be found in ASUS ROG GL752. Both notebooks offer very good displays, and the lack of PWM across all brightness levels in the former reduces the harmful effects on your eyesight. If you plan on using the latter at maximum brightness, you will thus avoid PWM.

And again, we are somehow unimpressed by the build quality and choice of materials along with the dimensions and weight. Acer’s variant seems way more attractive while selling for about the same price. Anyway, there are other things in which the GL752VW excels and blows everyone out of the water – keyboard and cooling capabilities. The former is just awesome for gaming and typing while the latter proved to be sufficient even in extreme conditions. So in the end, it’s really up to you to decide whether you would opt for the larger 17-inch GL752 or for the smaller GL552 gaming laptop, which offers slightly better image quality, considerably lower weight and a lot longer battery runtimes.

NVIDIA GeForce GTX 960M: Upper mid-range graphics card of the GeForce GTX 900M series.
Modern games should be playable with these graphics cards at low settings and resolutions. Casual gamers may be happy with these cards.

Intel Core i7: The Intel Core i7 for laptops is based on the LG1156 Core i5/i7 CPU for desktops. The base clock speed of the CPUs is relatively low, but because of a huge Turbo mode, the cores can dynamically overclock to up to 3.2 GHz (920XM). Therefore, the CPU can be as fast as high clocked dual-core CPUs (using single threaded applications) but still offer the advantage of 4 cores. Because of the large TDP of 45 W / 55 W, the CPU is only intended for large laptops.
6700HQ: Skylake-based quad-core processor for notebooks. Offers an integrated HD Graphics 530 GPU and is manufactured in 14 nm.» Further information can be found in our Comparison of Mobile Processsors.
17.30": This display size is a standard format for desktop replacements (DTR). The DTR laptops are heavier to carry, need more power, but texts are easy to read and high resolutions are no problem. DTR are mainly intended for stationary desk use, where weight and energy hunger don't matter. In return, you enjoy the advantages of high resolutions (more details, better legibility).» To find out how fine a display is, see our DPI List.
2.8 kg:
With this weight, a laptop is rather heavier than average. Devices in this range shine more with screen size and performance than with mobility.
