Apple iPhone 14 and iPhone 14 Pro rumor roundup as the expected iPhone 14 release date grows closer

As alleged “new” iPhone 14 datasheets start swirling around social media, now is as good a time as any to revisit some of the key expectations for Apple’s 2022 iPhones. While it’s obvious that this latest leak is simply a list of rumored specifications and prices that has been passed around on Weibo for the last several months and has now been printed and then crumpled up to give it some kind of authentic look, many details about the Apple iPhone 14 series have seemingly been set in stone, with numerous analysts and leakers agreeing on quite a few of the key iPhone 14 rumors.

In his latest Power On newsletter, Mark Gurman has stated the lineup will consist of the 6.1-inch iPhone 14, 6.7-inch iPhone 14 Plus, 6.1-inch iPhone 14 Pro, and 6.7-inch iPhone 14 Pro Max. It has been rumored on and off that Apple would go with the iPhone 14 Plus moniker instead of iPhone 14 Max, and Gurman’s statement adds weight to that expectation. In addition, the analyst details the advantages of owning an iPhone 14 Pro model: 48 MP-headed camera system, faster A16 SoC, a much-discussed unique notch design, a recently leaked always-on display, and even larger battery capacities. In fact, he goes as far to say that the iPhone 14 Pro and iPhone 14 Pro Max will "steal the show" at the upcoming Far Out event.

Many of these iPhone 14 rumors have been covered before, and they have issued from a base of dedicated Apple leakers. Gurman tends to be careful in regard to his reputation, so when he decides to report a feature, there is certainly a good chance of it being accurate. The Bloomberg reporter also recently talked about the iPhone 14 release date, which he believed will take place on September 16. This is when physical sales of the new devices will begin, after the Apple iPhone 14 launch date (September 7) and pre-order date (September 9) have already passed. Price predictions for the iPhone 14, iPhone 14 Plus (Max), iPhone 14 Pro, and iPhone 14 Pro Max have fluctuated, although TrendForce offered a credible price forecast recently.

Purple and green are expected to join the choices of iPhone 14 colors and there should be 120 Hz ProMotion available for the Pro models only. Design leaks suggest the iPhone 14 devices will have slimmer bezels than their iPhone 13 counterparts but the camera housing grew considerably, to the point the bump now reaches over half the width of the smartphone. Most agree that the 2022 Apple iPhones will sport 6 GB RAM and there will likely be maximum storage amounts of 512 GB (standard, Plus) and 1 TB (Pro, Pro Max), respectively. All will be revealed at the Apple iPhone 14 launch event taking place in Cupertino, California, on September 7.
