Apple has announced a new set of accessories for the iPhone Air, including a slim MagSafe battery pack dubbed the iPhone Air MagSafe Battery. This is Apple’s second attempt at a magnetic power bank after the original MagSafe Battery Pack was discontinued in September 2023.
The new model has a tall and skinny profile that matches the iPhone Air’s design language. As with the previous model, Apple did not disclose the exact battery capacity but claims it can provide up to 65% additional charge. With the pack attached, iPhone Air users can get up to 40 hours of video playback.
The downside is that the accessory is exclusive to the iPhone Air. Its extra height causes it to clash with the raised camera bars on other iPhone 17 models, preventing it from attaching magnetically. That said, it does include a USB-C port, so users can still plug in other iPhone models or accessories for a quick top-up.
Wireless charging speeds top out at 12W, which falls short of recent Qi2 25W certified power banks such as the Ugreen MagFlow 10,000mAh (curr: $59.99 at Amazon), which can push up to 25W. However, charging through the USB-C port should speed things up a bit.
Other iPhone Air accessories include a MagSafe Case, a lightweight Bumper reminiscent of the iPhone 4 bumper case introduced in 2010, and a Crossbody Strap. All are available now from the Apple Store, with the iPhone Air MagSafe Battery priced at $99.
