Amazon Kindle Colorsoft Signature Edition quietly receives upgrade with several improvements

In mid-July, Amazon announced a new 16 GB base model of the Kindle Colorsoft. Amazon also apparently upgraded the Signature Edition around the same time because, as Good E-Reader has learned, Amazon has since been shipping an improved 2025 variant of the e-reader in some regions. Although Amazon has changed the packaging, the model number "SA59CP" remains unchanged, making it difficult for customers to know which model they are purchasing before they buy.

This is particularly problematic at present, as Amazon is still selling off old stock before offering the 2025 model. According to Good E-Reader, the new model can be identified by the DSN code containing "H70", although it is still unclear whether this applies to all regions. The differences are actually quite large, as Amazon has replaced the motherboard and processor, which is supposed to improve the performance of the new variant. The position of the charging coil has been adjusted to improve compatibility with some Qi charging pads.

Perhaps the most important change, however, is that Amazon has adjusted the display structure, which no longer develops a yellowish bar at the bottom over time, as was previously the case. Good E-Reader further states that the redesigned display also achieves higher color saturation and deeper blacks. Amazon has also adjusted the manufacturing process, meaning the Kindle Colorsoft Signature Edition now contains 29% recycled materials, up from the previous 18%.
