When the 2025 Tesla Model Y Juniper is released in the US some time this quarter, it will not only have base RWD, AWD, and Performance versions, but will also get a makeover as a police vehicle.
The UP.FIT shop of Unplugged Performance that reimagines and manufactures Teslas as fleet vehicles just announced that it will have a turnkey Model Y Juniper retrofit as a patrol car soon after the refresh arrives in the US.
Tesla announced the new 2025 Model Y a week ago, and has set a tentative Juniper release date for March. It is currently using the Chinese New Year festivities to retool and upgrade the Model Y Juniper lines at the Gigafactory in Shanghai for mass production.
Before that, Tesla was producing more than 600 units of the facelift per day and there have been numerous truckload sightings of Juniper vehicles shipping out of Giga Shanghai lately, including in the new Glacial Blue color.
Tesla will also be concurrently releasing the 2025 Model Y Juniper in Europe, and started its mass production at Giga Berlin earlier this week. Previous rumors pegged the Model Y Juniper release to be simultaneous in China, Europe, and the US, so it is a matter of time until sightings of the facelift appear from the Gigafactories in Texas or Fremont where Tesla makes the 4680 batteries that it is likely to use for the US version of the Model Y refresh.
Unplugged Performance has unsurpassed experience in engineering Tesla cars as police vehicles, so the Model Y Juniper version for law enforcement departments across America will probably follow soon after.
The UP.FIT shop has calculated that PDs are saving $15,000 per unit annually from the operation of their Tesla fleet vehicles compared to other alternatives, so the Model Y Juniper could start making inroads as a police car shortly after its release in the US.
