Tesla Model 3 Highland taped in motion with separate amber blinkers
Tesla is currently testing its 2024 Model 3 Highland redesign which is likely to be announced this fall after it launches the Cybertruck, if history is any indication. The Model 3 refresh is expected to come with larger footprint and more streamlined, downright aggressive styling of the headlights and taillights, as well as the front and rear bumpers.
The new headlights were already spotted uncovered but now an eagle-eyed Reddit user (@gio6a) managed to catch a Model 3 Highland test mule in motion on a California highway with a tip about the taillights' redesign. From the way the Highland turned on the blinkers while changing lanes, it seems that they will be separated from the actual brake light. The indicators also flash in amber to tell them apart from the red illumination of the brake lights.
Inside, Tesla has reportedly streamlined the interior as well, akin to what it did with the Model S refresh not long ago. Expect stalkless steering wheel and even a yoke wheel as an option, as well as a giant central console display. The ventless, buttonless redesign of the Model S refresh has allegedly been carried as well, plus the ventilated seats for added comfort.
Under the hood, the Model 3 Highland could come with a larger, 66 kWh battery of CATL's innovative M3P type that uses magnesium to achieve higher energy density and lower cost in the same footprint as the current Model 3 battery pack. It remains to be seen if that will actually lead to lower 2024 Model 3 prices as Tesla will also use gigacasting for the chassis and other cost saving methods.
As can be expected, with the Highland Tesla will catch up with basically all of its other current models and install a Hardware 4.0 FSD kit, too, complete with a new faster computer, as well as more and higher resolution Tesla Vision cameras all around.
