Samsung Galaxy S9: Second Android 10 beta available next week
Samsung is well underway with the rollout of One UI 2.0, its custom version of Android 10. While the OS upgrade has already reached the Galaxy S10 series in some markets, its predecessors are still at least a month away from seeing One UI 2.0. While some people may want to wait until Samsung releases a stable version of One UI 2.0 to the S9 series, the company also has more adventurous types covered.
The S9 series has already received its first One UI 2.0 beta build, although that puts it one build behind its stablemate, the Galaxy Note 9. A Beta Operations Manager at Samsung has confirmed on the company's South Korean forums that this is about to change, though. According to the post, people who have enrolled their S9 or S9 Plus on the One UI 2.0 beta program should see a new build arrive "early next week". While One UI public betas generally do not contain severe bugs from our experience, they are unlikely to be as stable as the build that Samsung eventually releases globally.
Moreover, it is worth keeping in mind that Samsung issued seven One UI 2.0 betas to the Galaxy S10 series before finalising a stable build, so this second beta for the S9 series may still be far from the finished article. The beta is unlikely to be Compatibility Test Suite (CTS) certified either, so Google services like Google Pay will not work.
