Rabbit has released a new operating system for the Rabbit R1. The new rabbitOS 2 brings a colorful new interface, gesture support, and the ability to create apps using voice prompts.

The Rabbit R1 is an AI device that launched in early 2024, and since then, it has received several updates that fixed issues and added new features. Now, the manufacturer has released its biggest software update yet — version 2.0 of its rabbitOS.

rabbitOS 2 brings a major overhaul to the Rabbit R1. From a new card-based interface to gesture support and the ability to create apps, the new OS practically breathes new life into the device. Below are some of the new features:

Gesture functionality

Users will be able to swipe down from the top of the screen to adjust settings such as the brightness and volume. The quick settings menu also provides easy access to the camera, text input, and device settings. The Rabbit R1 (available on Amazon for $199) also has icons at the bottom of the screen that users can tap to easily mute a conversation, type a follow-up question, or launch the camera app.

Card Stack UI

rabbitOS 2 now has a new card stack menu that can be accessed by swiping up from the bottom of the screen or by moving the scrollwheel upwards. Each app has a colorful card that users can tap on to launch it. This interface is also visible when you use the push-to-talk button to carry out a task such as setting a timer. A swipe to the left will close the app.

Apps

Rabbit has also added new features to a number of apps. For example, the Magic Gallery app contains all of the users Magic Camera photos which can then be exported using Rabbit Hole. In addition, users can access full transcripts of their translations inside the Translator app while recordings are now stored locally and can be played back on the Rabbit R1. The web-based intern tasks can also be accessed using the Intern card, allowing users to interact with the intern agent directly on the device.

Creations

Another feature that rabbitOS 2 brings is what it calls Creations which is the ability to create apps by using natural language prompts. Once completed, the app a.k.a. creation will appear at the bottom of the Card Stack. Users can easily share their creations to social media by generating a QR code for it. Users can also visit Rabbit's official website to install creations made by other users. Rabbit says this is the first version of Creations, but it should get better as more features will be added later.

The new rabbitOS 2 is available to download now on the Rabbit R1. Rabbit has also announced that it will offer free global shipping for the Rabbit R1 until the end of September.
