The graphics card shortage has led to another curious product launch. Now, Palit has unveiled a new version of the GeForce GTX 1050 Ti, which it first released in 2016. Worse still, the Pascal-based card is no cheaper than it was when Palit released it four years ago.

In February, there were reports that NVIDIA would start shipping the GeForce GTX 1050 Ti to board partners so that it could sell at least one affordable graphics card. Theoretically, the GTX 16 series would suit NVIDIA's needs, but it currently seems incapable of producing Turing-based cards. Now, board partner Palit has unveiled a new version of the GeForce GTX 1050 Ti, a card that NVIDIA released in 2016.

According to Akiba, Palit has started selling the nearly four-year-old entry-level graphics card in Japan, known as the Palit Kuroutoshikou GF-GTX1050Ti-E4GB/SF/P2. Unsurprisingly, the graphics card remains based on NVIDIA's GP107-400 GPU, which has 768 CUDA cores, 4 GB of GDDR5 VRAM running on a 128-bit bus, DisplayPort 1.4 and HDMI 2.0b. However, Palit has added a DVI-D (Dual Link) port, which should output in up to 2,560 x 1,600 at 60 Hz.

Palit has priced its new GeForce GTX 1050 Ti at JPY 22,800 (~US$210), which is about double what the card sold for two years ago. At the time of writing, second-hand GeForce GTX 1050 Ti cards sell for over US$200 too, while Amazon sells the same graphics on its US store an astounding US$590.09. A third-party seller sells the Pascal card, mind you.
