myFirst's AI camera and printer turn kids' ideas into instant comics

myFirst has unveiled more details about its Insta magiCam and Insta magiBox, two children's gadgets combining generative AI with instant printing. The devices were announced this week, following an earlier appearance at IFA 2026.
The Insta magiCam is a digital camera that can identify photographed subjects and answer questions about them. Children can also transform their photos into different artistic styles or describe an imaginary scene and have the camera create it. The camera features front and rear cameras, 16MP photo resolution, 1080p video recording, and a 3-inch IPS display. Its built-in thermal printer produces photographs, illustrations, coloring pages, and stickers without requiring ink cartridges.
Meanwhile, the Insta magiBox takes a slightly different approach. Children describe an idea aloud, and the device generates an illustration in one of six styles, including anime, cartoon, and pencil art. It can also transform a spoken story into a four-panel comic, potentially giving parents a break from drawing the same dinosaur for the fifteenth time.
The printer features a 2.8-inch display, a 1,300mAh battery, and support for 26 languages. According to myFirst, printing takes approximately 10 seconds once an image has been generated.

The magiBox requires an internet connection for AI generation, although a smartphone is needed only during setup. The company also promises age-appropriate content filtering and safeguards for children's voice data, but their effectiveness remains independently unverified.
Both devices are listed as coming soon, with final pricing and wider availability yet to be confirmed.
