IFA 2016 | Lenovo unveils K6 series smartphones

These three new Android handsets have 5-inch and 5.5-inch screens, all being powered by the Qualcomm Snapdragon 430 chip and scheduled to hit the market starting this fall.

Lenovo's K5 smartphone lineup has finally got updated, and the name of the new family is - naturally - K6. The naming of the new devices follows the scheme used for the K5 - the successors of the K5, K5 Plus, and K5 Note are called K6, K6 Power, and K6 Note.

All the three new handsets use the Qualcomm Snapdragon 430 processor and their screens offer the popular full HD resolution, but are set apart by small differences in their remaining specs. These are their highlights:

  • K6 - 5-inch, 2 GB RAM, 16 GB or 32 GB storage, 13 MP, 3000 mAh
  • K6 Power - 5-inch, 2 GB or 3 GB RAM, 16 GB or 32 GB storage, 13 MP, 4000 mAh
  • K6 Note - 5.5-inch, 3 GB or 4 GB RAM, 32 GB storage, 16 MP, 4000 mAh

All handsets above have a front-facing 8 MP camera, as well as a microSD slot. Their connectivity features include 4G LTE, WiFi, Bluetooth 4.1, GPS, dual-SIM. At last, the new K6 handsets also come with Dolby Atmos and a fingerprint reader.

The K6 series handsets will launch with Android Marshmallow on board, and there is no official information on a Nougat update yet. In Europe, the prices will be between $167 USD and $257 USD. The first model to hit the market is the K6 (later this month), followed by the K6 Power (next month), and K6 Note (in November).
