iPhone 14 troubles continue as users are reportedly experiencing "Sim Not Supported" messages followed by device freezes
Apple released the iPhone 14 series on September 7. As was the case with the iPhone 13, the new iPhone 14 devices, especially the non-Pro models, are refinements rather than significant overhauls. One of the biggest changes Apple has made to the new phones is the elimination of a physical sim tray in favor of an eSim module in the iPhone 14 models intended for the US market.
Apple claims that, since an eSim can’t be taken out like a regular sim card, it makes stealing iPhones and keeping them under wraps harder. Using an eSim also allows users to have multiple phone numbers on a single device. As it turns out, users are now reporting seeing “Sim Not Supported” messages on their iPhone 14/iPhone 14 Pro devices. The information comes to us courtesy of MacRumors which claims to have seen a memo where Apple acknowledges and details the problem.
Aside from the sim-related error message, the devices are allegedly completely freezing after displaying the “Sim Not Supported” text in some cases.
So, how do you fix the problem if you experience this bug on your iPhone? Apple recommends users wait for the text to go away automatically. If that doesn’t work, the company wants customers to not reset the device and rather seek assistance from a certified service provider or the Apple Store.
Finally, Apple says that the problem is not related to the eSim hardware. Therefore, installing available updates might fix the issue. iPhone 14 devices have been grappling with software bugs since launch. For instance, iPhone 14 Pro smartphones were experiencing serious camera shakes in third-party apps. Apple did fix the issue shortly after and the company is continuously pushing out new updates.
