Spending the past couple of weeks with the Nubia Z50 is a capable mid-ranger that has a nice amount of power behind it. Its display allows you to watch daily content and navigate a breeze but its OS I’m not a major fan of. Also tied in with this being a China variant and not being able to access some apps. Picture taking should satisfy those wanting to snap a photo here and there. It could be a more compelling phone if ZTE could take it under its wing in the U.S. and add competition to the phone market. I was able to pop in my T-Mobile sim and get service FYI. Otherwise, it’s going for $549 and only available internationally.

The ZTE Nubia Z50 is an exceptional phone that offers powerful performance and good specs combination at a quite decent range. Plus, it covered a display, impressive refresh rate, faster processing speed, beautiful camera results, long-lasting battery life, good sound, and so on. These factors already make this phone attractive, while there’s no denying that the 128GB storage variant is a value-for-money deal. But like many ZTE phones, it’s not 100% possible that this device will appear on the global stage. Finally, if the device is not available in your country, check other alternatives. For a similar deal, we would suggest you go with the Xiaomi Redmi Note 12 Explorer if you want amazing camera results and robust performance.

The ZTE company unveiled the ZTE Nubia Z50 smartphone around December 2022. The ZTE Nubia Z50 offers a standard tall aspect ratio of a 6.74 inches AMOLED display panel. The screen also has an HDR10+, 1B colors, a 144Hz refresh rate, and 1000 nits brightness rating. Overall the display quality is better in this smartphone. The Nubia Z50 smartphone offers an amazing 4nm Qualcomm SM8550 Snapdragon 8 Gen 2 chipset for gaming and multitasking without any hassle. The Android 13 OS is present in this smartphone with MyOS 13 custom UI. Furthermore, the company also offers various storage options that varied from 128GB/256GB/512GB internal space that will accompany 8GB/12GB RAM support. With that, the high variant comes with 16GB RAM and 1TB internal storage. But sadly, you won’t find any secondary card slot in this phone. The ZTE Nubia Z50 offers a dual camera setup including a 64MP standard camera with OIS support and a 50MP ultrawide camera lens. The camera quality is amazing in daylight, while the main camera record up to 8K videos. But there’s no video stabilization, while for the selfie there’s a 16MP camera lens is present. The Nubia Z50 got amazing battery life as the phone equips a Li-Po 5000 mAh battery with 80W fast charging support. You will get this smartphone in Black, Silver, and Mint color variants. Lastly, the ZTE Nubia Z50 smartphone costs around $400 (Rs 34,990 in India) approx.

The long-lasting special formula for ZTE/nubia cameras scores points for the Z50S Pro as well - the 35mm primary is thoroughly great, be it in daylight or in the dark. Offering top quality at an unusual focal length (for a smartphone) is sure to attract a specific crowd that no one else really caters to with dedicated efforts. It's not all roses, though, and to keep costs down, Nubia went with a rather uninspiring telephoto camera; plus, the selfie unit isn't too amazing, either. Some of the choices surrounding the nubia's body don't quite work for us like the blocky design which made the phone awkward to handle, if admittedly attractive-looking. The lack of wireless charging and IP rating don't work in the Z50S Pro's favor either. And that slider, while a good idea, is limited in its functionality - at least in the software build of our review unit.
