Xiaomi sets longest EREV electric range record of 314 miles on a charge

Xiaomi has just teased the battery size that its first line of electric vehicles with extended range will be equipped with, and it sets a new record.
Just as rumored, the Skynomad series of family SUVs is equipped with a huge 76 kWh battery pack that Xiaomi says will be good for 505 km (314 miles) of pure electric range on a charge. This is slightly longer than the Leapmotor D19, which, however, offers the largest ever battery in an EREV.
For scale, the average electric vehicle comes with a battery in the 70-76 kWh capacity range, so Xiaomi's new Sky Nomad SUVs match that and then slap a generator that charges the battery to basically triple the distance that can be covered without needing a charger or a gas station.
The 1.5-liter engine that Xiaomi uses has a high peak efficiency rating of over 44%, where it delivers 4 kWh per liter of fuel to the electric powertrain. In the case of the Sky Nomad N70 Max crossover, this translates to the maximum advertised 505 km CLTC electric range and 1,500 km (937 miles) total range until the 68-liter gas tank is emptied.
The Skynomad N90 Max with its six- or seven-seat configurations shares the same 76 kWh battery pack but is much larger, being a full-size family SUV, so its pure electric range falls to around 480–500 km on a charge. Needless to say, this is on the local CLTC cycle that puts much more emphasis on city driving, where EVs are most efficient, so for a realistic EPA estimate, this should be cut by a third.
Xiaomi will release several EREVs in the Skynomad line: N90 Max Camping Edition with a retractable roof tent, the N70, N70 Max, and the N90 Max. Overall, Xaomi seems intent on conquering the extended-range family SUV trend just like it did the electric vehicle realm, where it turned a profit in just two years since its first car, compared to the ten years it took Tesla to do the same.
