Only one new title has been announced for Xbox Game Pass this week, but 33 Immortals looks promising. Developed by Thunder Lotus Games, the studio behind the beloved indie hit Spiritfarer, it offers a very different experience. While Spiritfarer explores themes of farewell and the afterlife, 33 Immortals follows damned souls rising against a cruel god. Players start in the Dark Forest, a hub where they must choose from four character types – melee, ranged, support, or tank – before entering the Eternal Gate to battle.
Teams of six set out to explore the map, taking on 'torture chambers', mini-dungeons that grant relics upon completion. This triggers the "Wrath of God," setting the map ablaze. Survivors then split into three groups for "Ascension Battles," which offer legendary relics with global bonuses. Procedurally generated levels ensure a varied experience, while cosmetic items allow for avatar customization. The game features 14 weapons, each inspired by the seven deadly sins and the seven heavenly virtues.
Early Access launch on March 18
33 Immortals was first announced in June 2023 during the Xbox Games Showcase as Thunder Lotus Games' first online title. Early Access begins on March 18 for PC and Xbox Series X/S, with the action roguelike launching on Xbox Game Pass the same day.
