WhatsApp reportedly working on a paid subscription plan with exclusive features and customization options

According to WABetaInfo, the popular messaging app WhatsApp might soon release a paid tier with additional features. The standard version of WhatsApp will remain free, thankfully, as it has been for over a decade now.
The new paid tier, likely to be named "WhatsApp Plus", will offer a bunch of new customization options. According to the blog post made on X, the paid tier will unlock around 14 new app icon options, as well as new color themes for the app interface.
Moreover, the paid tier will also allow customers to access a set of new exclusive ringtones, allowing users to distinguish WhatsApp calls from other communication apps. Subscribers will also be able to pin up to 20 chats, up from the 3-chat limit for standard users.

WABetaInfo states that more exclusive features and upgrades will be made available down the road, including exclusive stickers and interactive reactions designed to be immersive. As of right now, the exact details of these rumored features are not clear, but they sure do sound quite enticing for folks who spend a lot of time in the app.
Of course, as mentioned earlier, WhatsApp will continue to remain a free platform, with its primary messaging and calling features remaining free for all. Like Telegram, the paid tier is intended for folks who want to improve their chat experience, and unlock more customization capabilities. An exact launch date, however, is not in sight for now.
