Ulefone's Armor 28 Ultra is a newly launched rugged smartphone, unique for its flagship Dimensity 9300+ SoC. With a rather impressive spec sheet and outstanding durability claims, the Armor 28 Ultra is set to be available for pre-booking sometime this November.

Rugged smartphones are far from an appealing option for the vast majority of smartphone users, though they do serve their niche of folks who demand extreme durability in equally extreme environments. Ulefone's recently launched Armor 28 Ultra is one such contender in this highly-specialized market, which stands out pretty well, thanks to its flagship SoC.

Powered by the MediaTek Dimensity 9300+ SoC with 4 performance cores and 4 efficiency cores, the Armor 28 Ultra from Ulefone is the first rugged smartphone to hit the market with the flagship SoC. Paired with 16 GB of memory, the smartphone is most likely to be capable of all the computing prowess that can be expected from a typical flagship smartphone.

At the back, the Armor 28 Ultra rocks the 50 MP, f/1.9 Sony IMX989 sensor for the main camera, flanked by a 50 MP ultra-wide unit with Samsung's JN1 sensor. Selfie enthusiasts will be pleased to hear a 50 MP front-facing camera is included, also boasting Samsung's JN1 sensor. A 64 MP night vision camera with an 80-degree field-of-view based on the OV64B1B sensor is also present, along with a thermal camera.

As far as the 'rugged' aspect of the device is concerned, the Ulefone Armor 28 Ultra has been designed to handle drops from up to 2 meters or 6.6 feet. Surviving extreme temperatures should not be a hassle for the Armror 28 Ultra, which is rated to be functional between -30 and 55 degrees Celsius. Water resistance is much of the same story, boasting IP68 as well as IP69K certification, the latter of which refers to high-pressure, high-temperature water jets.

Other features of the smartphone include a large 6.67-inch FHD+ OLED display with a refresh rate of 120 Hz and a maximum brightness of a whopping 2,200 nits. A secondary display is present on the back, which shows a variety of essential information when the phone is laid down. Connectivity and storage specifications include WiFi 6, Bluetooth 5.4, an IR blaster, NFC, and 512 GB of UFS 3.1 internal storage.

The Ulefone Armor 28 Ultra is expected to arrive soon with pre-booking starting sometime in November. There is no word on pricing yet, but we can expect to hear more from Ulefone soon in that regard. But considering the features offered, we do expect the device to be priced at a premium.
