The Toshiba Satellite L305-S5875 is a thoroughly average, entry-level laptop. It wasn't too long ago that an average, entry-level laptop meant one that was underpowered and shabbily designed. These days, spending between $600 and $700 for a laptop means you are getting a relatively modern dual-core configuration that comes housed in a decent-looking case. There is nothing inherently wrong with the entry-level Toshiba Satellite L305, but both Dell and Sony have 15-inch budget laptops that offer more for less.

Toshiba's Satellite L305D-S5874 is one of many different configurations they have available. It is based around the AMD processor that gives it a bit of a disadvantage in terms of overall performance, but for many people it will be sufficient for their needs. The added integrated ATI graphics give it an edge over the integrated Intel solutions, but it still lacks the performance of dedicated graphics. The end result is an average budget system that has a fairly attractive price tag.

The Satellite L305 is a solid performer with a price that’s easy on your wallet, but it lacks a few features found on other notebooks in this price range.

It's hard to hate a laptop that only costs $350. Indeed, decent televisions weren't even this cheap half a decade ago. The first question that pops into one's head when confronted with such an absurdly low number is, "What am I getting for that?" The second question is, "Can I get away with owning one?" While it's hard to argue with a $350 laptop, the underpowered L305-S5955 is, basically, a Netbook in a larger case, with slightly better video playback

Toshiba: Toshiba Corporation is a Japanese conglomerate or technology group. The company was established in 1939 and in 1978 Toshiba became the official company name. The company's products and services include power, industrial and social infrastructure systems, elevators and escalators, electronic components, semiconductors, hard drives, printers, batteries, lighting, logistics and information technology. Toshiba was one of the largest manufacturers of personal computers, consumer electronics, home appliances and medical equipment.
These graphics cards are not suited for Windows 3D games. Office and Internet surfing however is possible.
Intel Graphics Media Accelerator (GMA) X3100: Intel Graphics Media Accelerator (GMA) X3100 is an integrated (onboard) graphic chip on a Mobile Intel 965GM chipset. It is the successor of GMA 950 and features a fully programmable pipeline (supports Aero Glass fully and DirectX 10 with newest drivers). The peformance of the X3100 is clearly better than the GMA 950, still demanding modern games won't run fluently.
Only some 3D games with very low demands are playable with these cards.
ATI Radeon HD 3100: Slower clocked Radeon HD 3200 onboard graphic chip with a reduced feature set (missing HD video decoding features?). Beware: Under Windows XP the HD 3200 may have no 2D acceleration because of a driver problem.
Intel Graphics Media Accelerator (GMA) 4500MHD: Onboard (shared Memory) GPU built in the GM45, GE45 and GS45 chipset (Montevina). Because of two more shaders and a higher core clock, much faster than the old GMA X3100. Still not advisable for gamers (DirectX 10 games not playable or only with very low settings). The integrated video processor is able to help decode HD videos (AVC/VC-2/MPEG2) , e.g., for a fluent Blu-Ray playback with slow CPUs.
Intel Graphics Media Accelerator (GMA) 4500M: The graphics core of the Intel GL40 and GS40 chipset features a slower clocked GMA 4500MHD (400 versus 533 MHz). Because of the slower core speed, full Blu-Ray Logo support is not given and the gaming performance is a bit worse.

Intel Pentium Dual Core: The return of the name Pentium, though it is a Yonah core. In fact, it is a double Core processor with a very good relation of performance to current consumption.
T2390: Entry level dual-core processor based on the Merom core (and therefore with 64 Bit support).
T3200: Entry-level dual core processor with a slow performance due to the old Merom core and a small level 2 cache.
AMD Athlon X2:
QL-60:
Similar to the Turion X2 CPU, but with reduced power saving functions (no deep sleep, only 2 instead of 3 P-states).
Intel Celeron M: It is a Pentium M with halved level 2 Cache and limited on FSB 400. The characteristic of this processor is the speed, which is hardly slower than an equivalent Pentium M. However it can change the speed not dynamically like the Pentium M and therefore needs without load more current.
It is also available as Low Voltage Version with very small current consumption.
900: Single core processor based on the Penryn core but many advanced features are deactivated. Due to the missing Speedstep, the CPU may lead to a lower battery runtime.

2.6 kg:
With this weight, a laptop is rather heavier than average. Devices in this range shine more with screen size and performance than with mobility.

61.75%: Such a poor rating is rare. There are only a few notebooks that were rated even worse. The rating websites do not give a purchase recommendation here.
