Verdict - Their most powerful phone thermal yet

The Thermal Master P4 takes the best features from their expansive lineup and packs them into a tiny package. The dual-camera module brings much more visual information to the table and makes it easier to diagnose a wide range of thermal needs. Also, the fact that it is fixed-focus now has really streamlined the thermal assessment workflow and eliminated the focus fiddling required with the P3. Furthermore, the updated app store app fixed the downside of having to sideload it and improved stability during testing to boot. Clearly, Thermal Master is committed to implementing consumer feedback, as the P4 hits the mark on improving on its predecessors. If there is a phone thermal camera to get, this is the one.

The software experience has been improved. Thermal Master has their "Thermal Master" app in the official stores, ending the stint of APK sideloading. This change has led to a noticeable leap in stability. During my testing, the software was stable, with no unexpected hangs that plagued earlier versions.

However, there is a hardware caveat potential buyers must consider: the P4 is resource-intensive. Because the hardware processes and overlays both thermal and 5MP visual streams in real time at 25Hz, it requires a powerful host device. In my testing, I found that mid-range smartphones began to lag as they attempted to keep up with the P4's data output. To get the fluid experience this camera is capable of, users really need to consider pairing it with a beefy smartphon
