The Samsung Galaxy Tab A 8.4 (2020) is an affordable tablet with a 4G/LTE variant. The first hints of a possible successor for this device have emerged, in the form of CAD renders published by MySmartPrice. Should they prove accurate, the OEM has not changed its design an awful lot in 2021.
Then again, the blog claims that the new Tab A has dimensions of 201.9 x 125.2 x 7 millimeters (mm). This means it might be slimmer than the 8.4 (2020). Otherwise, the 2 tablets seem to be much the same in terms of port and button placements. However, a microSD card slot seems to be missing in this putative 2021 slate.
If true, this might mean the Galaxy Tab A 8.4 (2021) has no mobile data this time around. Then again, there is a small hole on the left edge of the device as rendered, which could be either the opening to a card slot or a sensor of some kind.
In less ambiguous aspects of this leak, the CAD schematics show a definite presence of a headphone jack, at least. Otherwise, they suggest that the Tab A 8.4 (2021) is unlikely to get a camera upgrade, to the extent of sticking with the same single rear-facing lens. Similarly, its bezels look not much thinner compared to those of the Galaxy Tab A 8.4 (2020).
Therefore, this putative new Samsung device could make an exceptionally budget tablet in a few months. Given its possible predecessor's release date, it could debut at some point in the first quarter of 2021.
