Fitbit announced the Charge 5 in August, which the company claimed was compatible with its ECG app. Understandably, people have vented their frustrations on Fitbit's community pages, with ECG functionality featuring heavily in its marketing.
Fitbit has now corrected its mistake by bringing ECG functionality to the Charge 5 via a software update. Typically, Fitbit issues its OS updates in batches, so it could be a few days before this month's update is available to download on your Charge 5. It is worth noting that you should not rely on the device's ECG results to diagnose heart conditions, such as atrial fibrillation.
Incidentally, Fitbit has also enabled its Daily Readiness Score for Fitbit Premium subscribers. Fitbit outlines how to use its Daily Readiness Score in the video below. Currently, the feature is available on the Charge 5, Inspire 2, Luxe, Sense, Versa 2 and the Versa 3. There is no software update needed to use Fitbit's Daily Readiness Score, for reference.
