Fitbit has started pushing Fitbit OS 5.3 to the Sense and Versa 3, having recently brought new features to the Luxe. Fitbit OS 5.3 brings two major changes to the two devices, as Fitbit outlines in separate blog posts. While the company states that Fitbit OS 5.3 is already available for some Sense and Versa 3 owners, it could take some time for the OS update to reach all eligible smartwatches.
Additionally, Fitbit recommends downloading Fitbit OS 5.3 via Wi-Fi to minimise download times. Fitbit OS 5.3 arrives as 44.128.6.12 on the Sense and 36.128.6.12 on the Versa 3, for reference.
On the one hand, Fitbit OS 5.3 adds new status indicators that provide information about your device's battery level, whether Do Not Disturb or sleep mode are active and if it is connected to your smartphone. On the other hand, Fitbit has added new outdoor sports modes, including kayaking and skiing. These and other outdoor sports modes are available in Fitbit's exercise app.
Additionally, Fitbit claims to have bundled bug fixes and other improvements in Fitbit OS 5.2 from Fitbit OS 5.2.1. Sadly, the company has detailed what these are, nor if there are any known issues.
