Tesla is bringing its free FSD transfer promo abroad, with those who purchase a new Model Y, Model 3, or Model S/X refresh able to bring the option they paid for ages ago to their new vehicle.
The free FSD transfer deal runs until the end of the quarter, September 30th, but it could very well be extended as Tesla expects FSD to finally be approved for service in some European countries by the end of the year.
In the US, free FSD transfers have become a neverending promo somewhat, as the ability to take the Full Self-Driving feature from the old vehicle to a new purchase has been available in nearly all quarters since the beginning of 2024.
In Europe, however, whose who shelled out for the FSD option that has been available for purchase there for years, have had to watch the US market with envy, as local regulators have been biding their time with its approval for public roads.
That regulatory stalling is now beginning to crack with the arrival of FSD 13 which is way ahead of previous versions when it comes to navigating Europe's narrow streets and complex roundabouts.
Tesla keeps posting FSD Europe testing successes like acing the Arc de Triomphe roundabout in Paris, with its dozen of radiating avenues and bizarre right-of-way rules. It has slowly won regulators on its side with the newest FSD software releases and expects countries like Netherlands to approve its autonomous driving suite for use on public roads in this quarter or the next.
In order to throw a bone to those Tesla owners in Europe who have been waiting quite a long time for their FSD option purchase to actually materialize on the other side of the pond, Tesla is now offering the free FSD transfer promo to new vehicles in Germany and across the EU under the following conditions:
- You ordered your new Tesla on or after July 18, 2025;
- The new Tesla must be received between July 18, 2025, and September 30, 2025;
- You must be the legal owner and registration holder of the current vehicle with FSD functionality (full autonomous driving capability) for at least 72 hours after delivery of your new vehicle;
- The current and new vehicles must be linked to the same Tesla account.
Not only will this soothe the somewhat angry legacy FSD owners, but it might increase the uptake of its new Model Y refresh, as Tesla's European market has suffered the most from Elon Musk's ill-fated political activism, which led to sales in some EU countries falling by more than 50% since the beginning of 2025.
