The Tesla Model Y L is no longer a secret, especially as it has been spotted in public multiple times. However, a photo of the new variant without a cover has made its way onto the internet as the automaker prepares for deliveries starting in the fall.
The photo was posted on X by @TslaChan. It shows at least three Model Y Ls stacked on one another on a car carrier. The units are being transported without camouflage or cover, all painted a silver color.
The two cars at the back of the carrier bear the distinct Model Y L badging, apart from other noticeable visual differences from the Model Y. For instance, the rear overhang is extended, and the bumper appears slightly bulkier, which might be necessary to accommodate the longer chassis. The rear glass also appears to be more upright than the upgraded Model Y.
Tesla revealed the Model Y L in July in China. It is approximately 7 inches longer than the regular Model Y, which should make the third row more spacious and convenient for adults. The electric SUV will seat six, with second-row occupants riding in luxury in captain’s chairs.
Information filed with the Chinese Ministry of Industry and Information Technology (MIIT) indicates that the Model Y L will feature a dual-electric motor powertrain with a combined output of 340 hp. The SUV will be powered by an 82 kWh NMC battery, which can last 751 km (CLTC standard) on a full charge.
There are speculations that Tesla is already producing the Model Y L at its Shanghai factory, and deliveries are expected to start in September. A prototype was spotted near the iconic Nürburgring in Germany, hinting at imminent release in Europe.
