Tesla Model S owner trades it for a Chrysler 300 V8 on quality issues, says Tesla's charging network only good thing about it

After a two-year fight with Tesla's assembly quality, repair customer service, and interior trimmings, a Model S owner finally traded it for a Chrysler 300. The big V8 sedan checked all the boxes for them, down to the fact that they have physical knobs to control the A/C or car stereo volume while driving without looking to a screen.

One Tesla Model S owner got so frustrated with the electric car's assembly quality and support service issues that they went and traded it for a V8 Chrysler 300 and claim they are all the better for it. The Model S problems in the two years of ownership spanned the gamut of hard-to-find replacement parts, shoddy assembly with panel gaps, and cheapo uncomfortable interior in comparison with the flagship Chrysler. At least for the starting price, that is, which was about US$86,200 back in 2019 when Jack B. bought the Model S.

...for the money, I was beyond disappointed with the quality and poor customer service. The carpet is like something you’d find in a Corolla, the panel gaps are as bad as everyone says, the screen was yellowing after 2 years, and the replacement parts are hard to get and extremely expensive ($1k and 3 months for a cracked mirror)!

The Tesla owner admits that Chrysler's reputation for quality is not that stellar, too, but they got wooed by the understated design for something with a performance V8 Hemi, as well as the luxurious interior trimmings and the presence of physical knobs.

I saw a 300 on the lot and really thought it was a compelling package for the money… RWD V8, dead quiet (near S class quiet) and a surprisingly nice interior in the Platinum one. And most importantly, I don’t have to change the volume or climate with a f*%king screen.

About the only good word that the former Model S owner had to say about Tesla was about its fast charging network that is second to none in the U.S.

There’s definitely something to be said for never filling up gas and all the added tech that comes with an EV and specifically a Tesla. For the reasons in my post though, I’m just not a fan of Tesla and the quality of their product or service. Problem is, I still think if you want an EV, Tesla remains the best in the business because of their charging network. Nobody else comes close.
