Team Group: New and particularly fast microSD should be able to prevent data loss
Team Group has introduced new SD memory cards. The storage media should be compact and secure, with the ability to read memory card status. With these models, the company aims to appeal to professional users in particular.

Data security is not only a major issue for professional users, but also crucial for professionals - this not only saves an embarrassing loss of reputation if data has to be requested again, for example, a photo shoot or scenes for a documentary simply cannot be repeated in some cases. Team Group is now offering new microSD cards, which are also likely to target professional users.

The memory cards allow S.M.A.R.T. parameters to be read out. This sensor data represents the condition of a storage medium, meaning that, in the best-case scenario, an imminent failure can be detected in good time - in which case such a memory card can be replaced or only used in less critical areas of application. With the EXPERT S.M.A.R.T. Micro SDXC memory cards, Team Group has introduced new storage media that support the reading of these parameters.

These models are only available as microSD versions, but can also be used in an SD memory card slot with the aid of a corresponding adapter. The data transfer rates depend on the size of the memory card; the 2-terabyte version should be able to read sequentially at 170 MByte/s and write at 160 MByte/s. The memory cards comply with the V30 and A2 standards and can, therefore, be used to record high-resolution video material. The memory cards should be protected against damage caused by water, dust, electric shocks, and X-rays.

There is currently no information on price or availability. The memory cards will be offered in capacities of 128, 256, 512 gigabytes, and one and two terabytes.

Possible alternative without S.M.A.R.T.: Buy SanDisk Extreme with 256 gigabytes at Amazon
