GamerTech unveils Magma Glove with active heating to optimize hand performance during cold gaming sessions
GamerTech has unveiled the Magma Glove with active thin film heating at PAX East 2024. Designed for optimal hand performance during cold video gaming sessions, the esports glove utilizes a reflective layer to keep heat in along with thin layers of graphene carbon heaters in key areas of the hand and wrist to maintain hands at the optimal temperature. The glove has timed heating cycles along with three heat settings.
Esports is now recognized worldwide by the International Olympics Committee as a legitimate sports activity, and competitive video gamers can make a living winning at tournaments. Like other sports athletes, the temperature of video gamers affects their reaction times. Hand agility decreases across all activities when the temperature is too cold, so a slower response by even a single millisecond can result in a loss during a match.
One study of over 40,000 esports gamers revealed that optimal gaming performance occurred when the average temperature was between 10 to 20 degrees C (approx. 50 to 68 F), with a peak approximately 16 degrees C (approx. 60 F). Anyone who has been in a cold operating room can understand why surgeons prefer such temperatures. Because gamers can’t control the temperature of the tournament rooms they compete in, a heated glove is one solution to a cold room.
Additional features of the Magma Glove include exposed fingertips for precise clicking and mouse wheel scrolling, a glide patch for smooth hand movement, glove compression for muscle support, and moisture wicking to keep the palms dry.
Cold gamers wanting to move up the rankings can sign up for the Magma Glove preorder today and look into buying a serious gaming mouse (like this one at Amazon).
