TUF Gaming VG27AQ3A: ASUS unveils new 27-inch mid-range gaming monitor with 1440p resolution and 180 Hz refresh rate
ASUS has released the TUF Gaming VG27AQ3A, a 27-inch gaming monitor based around a Fast IPS panel. According to the manufacturer, the panel offers 1 ms GtG response times, with AMD FreeSync Premium and NVIDIA G-SYNC compatibility on hand to mitigate image tearing. The TUF Gaming VG27AQ3A marries these features with a 2,560 x 1,440-pixel resolution, which correlates to a 109 PPI pixel density across its 27-inch panel.
Additionally, the gaming monitor has a 180 Hz refresh rate. However, it is worth noting that this refresh rate is only possible when connecting a device to the TUF Gaming VG27AQ3A via its single DisplayPort 1.4 port. Alternatively, the gaming monitor will deliver up to 144 Hz refresh rates over its twin HDMI 2.0 ports. Moreover, the TUF Gaming VG27AQ3A is said to cover 130% of the sRGB colour space with a guaranteed 1,000:1 contrast ratio.
ASUS also advertises the gaming monitor as HDR10 compatible, although its 250 nit peak brightness limits its HDR potential. Furthermore, ASUS has integrated a 3.5 mm jack for connecting external audio equipment, a 100 x 100 mm VESA mount if you prefer to use a third-party stand and a pair of 2 W stereo speakers. Currently, ASUS charges €389 for the TUF Gaming VG27AQ3A in the Eurozone and £298 in the UK. Please see ASUS' website for more details.
