Buy a Note 8, get a second Note 8 for free (after rebate). T-Mobile's latest incentive offers the best deal yet on the upcoming handset, and is compatible with Samsung's Do Bigger Things promotion.

A free Samsung Galaxy Note 8—who can resist such a great offer? The near-US$1,000 phone is anything but attainable for many people, and the thought of purchasing two handsets is even more far-fetched. But with T-Mobile's new Buy One Get One Free promotion, you can get two Note 8 phones for what amounts to half price each—provided you follow the company's instructions.

What are those instructions? In short, they are the following:

  1. Both devices must be pre-ordered through T-Mobile's Equipment Installment Plan (EIP).
  2. A down-payment of US$210, plus any applicable taxes, must be paid for each handset.
  3. After the purchase is successful, customers must visit this link and complete the rebate form using the promo code 17CSAMN8BOGO within 30 days to get a refund on the second Note 8.

Now, you may be thinking, why do I have to pay $210 down for the second Note 8? I thought it was free? Technically, it is—or it will be, once T-Mobile mails you a rebate for the full price of the second Note 8. That rebate will come in the form of a prepaid Mastercard worth US$930.

There is one caveat to this deal: if you cancel the second line, you will then owe the full value of the second Note 8. Obviously, if you close your T-Mobile account you will owe the remaining value on both phones. Other than that, the deal is pretty straightforward.

Two final things to note (no pun intended). First, you don't have to choose a Note 8 as your second device. The BOGO promotion allows you to select a Galaxy S8 or S8 Plus instead. Because both devices cost over US$720, a down payment of US$30 for the S8 or US$80 for the S8 Plus is still required. The two phones also qualify for the refund.

Second, if you do stick with a Note 8 as your second handset, you qualify for Samsung's Do Bigger Things promotion which offers either a free Gear VR 360 camera or a 128 GB microSD card and Fast Wireless Charging Convertible bundle. The Do Bigger Things promotion is valid for the first Note 8 handset as well.

T-Mobile's Galaxy Note 8 BOGO promotion started on September 1 and will be active for "a limited time," so take advantage of it while it's still available.
