The highly anticipated sequel to Sucker Punch Productions’ Ghost of Tsushima, Ghost of Yotei, has officially gone gold. The game has completed its primary development and paved the way for its scheduled launch.
Sucker Punch announced this achievement on social media, confirming that the game’s master disc has been submitted to publisher Sony Interactive Entertainment for replication and distribution. Sucker Punch has reached just a month before the game’s scheduled release date of October 2, 2025, exclusively for the PlayStation 5 and PlayStation 5 Pro.
Sucker Punch Productions announced on X:
“We’re so excited to finally reach this milestone and can’t wait for everyone to experience the beauty of Ezo on October 2nd.” To celebrate the game going gold, the studio released 74 seconds of new gameplay footage of Atsu bringing guns to a sword fight, choreographed in what many are calling “gun fu” against enemies at a camp.
With the game finally gone gold, the likelihood of delays is out of the question, though post-launch updates and day-one patches are possible, considering recent industry practices.
Ghost of Yotei is set 300 years after the events of Ghost of Tsushima and follows the story of Atsu, a lone mercenary exploring the vistas of 1600s rural Japan around Mount Yotei in the region of Ezo, which is now known as Hokkaido.
Ghost of Yotei will launch with multiple editions available in both physical and digital versions. The Standard Edition is priced at $69.99, while the Digital Deluxe Edition, priced at $79.99, will offer players add-ons like the Snake Armor, a special Sword Kit, early unlocked Traveler’s Maps, a special Charm, Digital Deluxe Armor Dye, and a matching Horse and Saddle.
Collectors will get the option to buy a $249.99 bundle, featuring a ghost mask, sash, tsuba, papercraft ginkgo tree, art cards, a Zeni Haiki coin game with pouch, along with extra digital add-ons redeemable via a voucher code.
While Ghost of Yotei is launching as a PlayStation exclusive, there’s still no word about a PC port. Ghost of Tsushima debuted on the PS4 in July 2020, launched on the PS5 in August 2021, and finally arrived on PC in May 2024.
PlayStation has recently been embracing broader platform availability after an initial exclusivity period for some titles, so speculation suggests that the game will release on PC in late 2026.
