The twelfth main installment in the series, Battlefield 2042, is enjoying a hefty discount on Steam. This massive sandbox-style multiplayer title has dropped from $59.99 to $2.99. However, it's worth noting that this game deal will remain active for a limited time, expiring on June 26, 2025.

Unlike some of the previous installments in the series, Battlefield 2042 doesn't feature a traditional single-player campaign. Instead, the entire narrative is based on the multiplayer experience. The game that's currently on sale has support for online matches with up to 128 players.

It features large-scale maps with dynamic environments and interactive elements like shifting containers. They even have extreme weather events, such as sandstorms and tornadoes, which add a layer of challenge in intense multiplayer battles.

Like the other Battlefield games, this one has a wide array of vehicles and weaponry that players can play with. Given the futuristic setting of the game, there is a lot of advanced equipment, including deployable turrets and drones.

Another big highlight of the game that's enjoying a massive 95% discount is the on-the-fly customization mechanism. This system allows the players to modify the weapon attachments in real time during ongoing battles.

Regarding the game modes, Battlefield 2042 offers three primary multiplayer experiences. Among them are Breakthrough and Conquest, which are known as the classic modes in the franchise. A unique addition to this entry is the "Battlefield Portal," which is a community-driven mode allowing players to create custom game modes. It offers access to the assets from the game and even some of the classic entries of the series, including Bad Company 2 and Battlefield 3.
