Steam Winter Sale tempts with 4 enthralling action games from 2022 at all-time low prices

Although the God of War franchise is a stalwart in gaming, the recent reboot of the game has been particularly well received. God of War shifts the game's location and mythological setting from Greece to ancient Norway and the Norse pantheon of gods. The start of the second era of the God of War franchise sees Kratos and his son, Atreus, embark on an adventure to scatter the ashes of Kratos's deceased wife. This being a God of War game, not all goes well, and the pair end up entangled in the fate of the world and the gods that rule over it.

While God of War was originally released back in 2018, it only made its way to Steam early in 2022, and it's been a hit since, peaking at over 73,000 concurrent players in February 2022. You can grab God of War for US$29.99 during the Steam Winter Sale, down from the normal price of US$49.99.

It seems like roguelite games are all the rage these days, and for good reason. They take a degree of determination and trial and error to get anywhere, giving their players a strong sense of achievement in the process. Orbital Bullet takes roguelite gameplay elements gamers seem to love, combines them with a platformer, and rounds things off with a dash of bullet hell chaos. While the rotating platforms in Orbital Bullet might seem like a visual gimmick at first — you still basically move side-to-side and vertically, like any other platformer — the 360° platforms give players unique opportunities to attack enemies and solve in-game puzzles.

In the world of rhythm games, there are abstract, challenging games like Osu!, that rely on coordination and timing with little care given to the surrounding aspects of the game, and then there are games that put fun higher on the list of priorities. Metal: Hellsinger is one of the latter type, as a first-person shooter/fighter that delivers on a wide number of fronts — including an excellent rhythm mechanic — while still maintaining a reasonable degree of difficulty. Players play as the devil himself on a quest for vengeance, as he battles his way through the endless waves of demons in the depths of hell.

The game offers up a number of satisfying weapons for players to use on their blood-soaked rampage, while well-rounded combat and progression, rich level design, and maneuverability complete the experience. On top of being an expertly-designed game, Metal: Hellsinger has players play to the rhythm of some of the greatest musical talents from the world of metal, including System of a Down's Serj Tankian, Jinjer's Tatiana Shmayluk, and Arch Enemy's Alissa White-Gluz. Metal: Hellsinger is available during the Steam Winter Sale for US$19.79, down from US$29.99.
