Airborne Empire lets you build a flying city that you can move across an open world. Manage your buildings, resources, and the needs of your citizens while trying to repel various threats and free several towns from pirates.

Developed by The Wandering Band LLC, Airborne Empire is a game that blends city-building and RPG mechanics. Set in an open world, the main objective is to build your city in the skies and keep it airborne.

Like other city-building games, Airborne Empire lets you build, manage, and expand your city. However, the action takes place in the air rather than on the ground, and you'll need to manage your city's lift, balance, and propulsion.

Five distinct biomes are available, each with its own landscapes and challenges. Along the way, you'll meet various characters and complete quests to liberate towns and restore peace across the kingdoms.

Indeed, the pirates are one of the main threats in this game, and they won't hesitate to attack you. Repelling them won't be easy, even though you'll have several weapons at your disposal.

You can switch things up with survival mode, where you'll have to survive 20 stages of pirate attacks. Creative mode lets you build freely, while pacifist mode allows you to play without combat.

On Steam, 86% of its 962 reviews are positive. Players enjoy its building mechanics and combat. However, the difficulty seems unbalanced, and some players have reported optimization issues. Other players point out a clunky interface and repetitive gameplay. In addition, the buildings lack variety.

Currently available for $14.99, Airborne Empire will return to $29.99 on November 6, 2026, according to SteamDB.
