Samsung exuded confidence that the world is ready to switch to foldables during its latest Galaxy Unpacked event. However, there are those who remain less than convinced by the Z Fold3 and Z Flip3, particularly as most cases for their predecessors come as two-part accessories that clip onto either 'half' of each device, leaving their potentially fragile hinges exposed.
However, Speck has moved to change this in 2021 by engineering the Presidio Perfect-Clear Fold series for the 2 high-end devices. They have a one-piece design that "moves seamlessly with the phone", and is also rated for 13-foot drop protection.
The OEM has also added a "quick-access groove" that helps users open the Z Fold3 or Z Flip3 to access their 7.6-inch and 6.7-inch flexible AMOLED displays. Then again, the Presidio Perfect-Clear Fold variants for either phone is clear, thus increasing the risk they may discolor and show stains over time. However, Speck claims to have incorporated Perfect-Clear coating and a Microban antimicrobial finish to avoid this.
However, a more 'normal' case experience while rocking the already pricey new foldables does not come cheap. The Presidio Perfect-Clear Fold for the Z Fold3 has a recommended tag of US$59.95, while that for the Z Flip3 is $64.95. They are available on the OEM's website from now.
