Seek Thermal has released the improved Nano 200 and Nano 300 thermal imaging cameras for Android and iOS phones. The infrared cameras see heat and help PC modders detect cooling and heating problems quickly when overclocking CPUs and GPUs.

A traditional non-contact thermometer only measures temperature at the spot it is pointed at, so to detect cooling problems on a large device, such as a big GPU cooler, users are forced to tediously scan back and forth. Thermal cameras work like digital cameras except the sensors are sensitive to infrared light and can see in the dark.

The Nano 200 and Nano 300 have a 25 Hz image refresh rate due to improved sensors. This is a significant improvement over the prior generation with a 9 Hz refresh rate that was released almost a decade ago. New optics with SV1 Image Optimization result in more detailed images and videos. Seven false color modes have been optimized for distinguishing temperature differences. Multi-spot temperature mode simultaneously displays the lowest, highest, and center-spot temperature in an image.

The Nano 200 and 300 measure 1 x 1 x 0.86 inch (25 x 25 x 22 mm) and weigh 0.45 ounce (13 g). The sensors measure temperatures within -4° F to 626° F (-20° C to 330° C) with an accuracy of +/- 9° F (+/- 5° C) or 5%, whichever is greater. The camera lenses are infinity-focused for sharp images of most targets, and an optional macro adapter enables measurements of small parts such as a RAM module.

Unlike some competing cameras, the Nanos do not use internal batteries that eventually fail, but are powered by connected smartphones. The Nano 200 has a sensor resolution of 200 x 150 pixels with a 35° x 27° field-of-view while the Nano 300 has a resolution of 320 x 240 pixels with a 57° x 42° field-of-view.

The Nano 200 has a $149 MSRP, and the Nano 300 has a $249 MSRP (both available here on Amazon). Readers who want to share thermal images of their friends, pets, or modded PCs IRL can pick up a portable Fujifilm Instax photo printer (available here on Amazon).

INTRODUCING SEEK NANO: PROFESSIONAL-GRADE THERMAL IMAGING ON A PERSONAL BUDGET

The next generation Seek Nano sets new standards in smartphone thermal technology, combining high performance with affordability.

SANTA BARBARA, CA – June 6, 2024 – Seek Thermal Inc., a world leader in thermal imaging technology, is proud to announce the launch of the Seek Nano, the latest breakthrough in smartphone thermal imaging technology. This next-generation thermal camera builds on the remarkable success of the Seek Compact, offering significantly enhanced performance at a fraction of the cost.

“Seek Nano represents a significant milestone in thermal imaging technology," stated Jeff Karlson, Vice President at Seek Thermal. "With the Nano, we've achieved the highest image quality available for smartphone thermal cameras, and we're offering it at the most competitive price point in the market. Our goal is to make professional-grade thermal imaging accessible to everyone, breaking down the cost barrier that has traditionally limited this powerful technology. The Nano changes that, bringing expert-level thermal capability to all, regardless of budget.”

The Seek Nano is available in two resolution formats to cater to varying professional needs. The Nano 200, priced at $149, features our 200 x 150 sensor, while the Nano 300, at $249, has our higher resolution 320 x 240 sensor. Both models are enhanced with Seek’s proprietary SV1 image optimization technology, which delivers unprecedented detail, improved contrast, and superior edge clarity. This ensures that Seek Nano delivers the best image quality available at these price points, making professional-grade thermal imaging more accessible to everyone.

Designed for simplicity, the Nano does not require batteries or charging, is always ready to use, and connects directly to smartphones, including being the first iPhone-compatible camera to feature a USB-C connection. This plug-and-play approach guarantees that the Nano is convenient and ready whenever you need it.

In addition to its impressive core capabilities, the Nano supports further customization through accessories. A Macro lens accessory is available for detailed close-up thermal imaging, and a specially designed carry case offers a simple solution for transporting the camera and lens, providing extra protection when needed.

With its unparalleled performance, ease of use, and competitive pricing, the Seek Nano is set to redefine the landscape of thermal imaging for both professional and personal use. Whether for home inspections, electrical work, or hobbyist projects, the Nano ensures that high-quality thermal imaging is in everyone’s hands.
