Samsung releases new ultra-premium foldable with special designs

Samsung has now released a new foldable in China, just days after Evan Blass and Ice Universe shared photos of the device. For context, the company already sells the Galaxy Z Flip8, Galaxy Z Fold8 and the Galaxy Z Fold8 Ultra globally (curr. $1,899 on Amazon).
As images suggest, the Samsung W27 has its roots in the Galaxy Z Fold8 Ultra rather than the Galaxy Z Fold8. Incidentally, Samsung has decided against releasing W-series variants of the smaller Galaxy Z Fold8 or the Galaxy Z Flip8. To that end, the Samsung W27 combines 6.5-inch cover and 8-inch internal displays with a 5,000 mAh battery and the Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 5 for Galaxy chipset.
Moreover, Samsung installs 200 MP primary, 50 MP ultra-wide-angle and 10 MP telephoto cameras, as well as dual 10 MP selfie cameras. Also, the Samsung W27 matches the Galaxy Z Fold8 Ultra with an official 215 g weight and 158.9 x 72.8 x 8.9 mm dimensions when closed.
The Samsung W27 starts at CNY 18,999 (~$2,850) in China with 16 GB of RAM and 512 GB of storage, CNY 2,000 (~$300) more than its predecessor. Alternatively, Samsung is selling a 1 TB variant for CNY 21,999 (~$3,300), a CNY 3,000 (~$450) surcharge over the equivalent Samsung W26 variant. By contrast, the Galaxy Z Fold8 Ultra costs CNY 19,799 (~$2,970) with 16 GB of RAM and 1 TB of storage.
On the one hand, Samsung attempts to justify its 11% price increase with a more ostentatious design featuring gold accents to offset red and blue back panels. On the other hand, it includes a complimentary Kevlar magnetic protective case, a 45 W charger, its Care+ Elite Edition service and a more elaborate box design.
As with older models, the Samsung W27 is exclusive to China. Typically, third parties offer Samsung's W series foldables as imports though, as was also the case with the Galaxy Z TriFold before its international release. Please see Samsung's website for more details about the Samsung W27.
