Samsung unveiled its behemothic Odyssey OLED G9 at CES 2023 this year. However, pre-orders wouldn't open up until June, and the monitor's price has remained essentially unchanged at US$1,799. Now, it has received a whopping US$600 discount at Best Buy, bringing it down to US$1,199.
The Samsung Odyssey OLED G9 has all the bells and whistles of a high-end monitor, including a bedazzling QD (quantum dot) OLED panel with a VesaHDR brightness of 400 nits, a 240 Hz refresh rate and a resolution of 5,120 x 1,440 pixels. Other features include HDR10+, a curvature of 1800R, 0.03 ms grey-to-grey response time and AMD FreeSync Premium Pro support.
I/O options on the Samsung Odyssey OLED G9 include an HDMI 2.1 port, one DP 1.4 port, one micro HDMI 2.1 port, two USB Type-A ports, and one USB Type-B port. It comes pre-installed with Samsung's in-house Tizen OS and can function as a standalone entertainment centre. It can even play games via services such as GeForce Now and Xbox Cloud Gaming.
