Reviews for the Samsung Galaxy A03s
Compared to last year, Samsung hasn't changed much in the Galaxy A03s. The very affordable phone at least comes with more stable Wi-Fi, which was one of our biggest points of criticism with the predecessor. Is the Galaxy A03s worth it or is it too expensive for 160 Euros?

As someone typically running with some sort of flagship phone as my daily driver, be that a Google Pixel, a Samsung S-series, or even an iPhone, the Galaxy A03s took me a little while to get used to. However, if you are a budget phone expert, you won't make the same mistake I did and try to use this phone the way you would a flagship device. Once I got used to using the phone a bit slower, I didn't hate the experience too much. As long as I didn't have to take a picture, the phone felt like it had enough going for it. With a budget phone, some compromises are expected. It's unsurprising that the Samsung Galaxy A03s is a bit slow, doesn't have great cameras, and can be frustrating when trying to do too much on it. Still, the phone is $160 or less, making it a perfect match for someone looking for a barebones phone at an incredibly affordable price.

The Samsung Galaxy A03s is a basic smartphone that’s neither cheap enough nor good enough to warrant your money. It offers decent battery life and it looks pretty good, but performance and camera quality are severely lacking. You can get practically the exact same user experience from Samsung’s older and cheaper Galaxy A02s. If you’re looking to upgrade from the A02s, don’t be duped by the naming convention; the A03s is not a step up.

Samsung’s Galaxy A03s is a decent option among sub-$200 smartphones and a fair fit for those looking at the Galaxy A03s as a first smartphone or an option for those on a tight budget. It’s the most affordable way to enter Samsung’s Galaxy ecosystem, and One UI is feature-packed and extremely well-supported for those looking to keep a phone for several years. The addition of a fingerprint reader is a nice touch for simple security, too. However, the processor and overall camera setup still leave something to be desired — two crucial areas for any modern phone. The Samsung Galaxy A03s has increased in price from last year, giving even more rivals to square off against. Motorola’s Moto G Play ($169) is perhaps the closest competition, with a nearly identical set of cameras and a marginally more powerful Snapdragon 460 processor. However, it offers even slower charging, less base RAM and storage, and does not support NFC for contactless payments. If you want a slightly upgraded Motorola option, the Moto G Pure ($159) ships with Android 11 out of the box and a basic IP rating.

I'd recommend the Galaxy A03S to anyone who wants to spend less than $200 on a new Samsung phone. Since it's the newest of the three phones, it'll get more years of software and security updates. I also found that it offered respectable performance for the price. While the A12 does take better photos, I didn't think the step up in quality was worth the extra $20. Instead, buy the A03S and invest that $20 toward the microSD card you'll need. If you wanted to check out other sub-$200 phones that aren't made by Samsung, Motorola has the $160 Moto G Pure phone and a $200 Moto G Power phone. The OnePlus Nord N200 5G goes slightly above the $200 threshold at $240, but it offers 5G connectivity.

If you don’t mind spending a bit more, the Samsung Galaxy A13 ($249) and Nokia X100 ($252) are affordable ways to add 5G to the mix. Nokia’s device adds a 48MP primary camera with a sharp Full HD+ display but falls short on software updates. The Galaxy A13, on the other hand, offers a 50MP camera with Samsung’s robust update policy and a sleek, minimalist design.

The Galaxy A03s is a good entry-level smartphone - that's undeniable. It has a good screen, a reliable battery, a recent Android OS with OneUI interface, and a non-nonsense primary camera. Unfortunately, the A03s feels overpriced for what it offers - there are much better phones on the same shelf. If it were priced around €100-€110, it would have been a great competitive offer, a worthy budget phone. So, if you can get the Galaxy A03s with a price cut that makes sense - we'd recommend it for its skills. But for now - we'd suggest looking elsewhere.

We’ve found that in our Samsung Galaxy A03s Hands-On that the device does cover a lot of the basics if you’re looking for a more affordable option from the Korean brand; coming in at Php 6,490 or if you’re lucky to catch it on sale — Php 5,990. Unfortunately, we all know that there are some serious tough contenders out there that pretty much rule the roost. If you’re sen on getting a Samsung device and can increase your budget a bit, then we suggest taking a look at the Galaxy M22 as an option.

All in all, considering Samsung’s recent budget launches, the Galaxy A03s is a pretty average offering. It has a solid design, an above-average primary camera, and a reliable battery life. That being said, Samsung could have done better in the performance department seeing how Chinese companies offer the same CPU-memory configuration for much cheaper. Its slow charging speed is also a headache material.

It is clearly seen that the Samsung Galaxy A03s smartphone is a strong competitor of the Galaxy M02s which has more advanced features with the same budget. While the battery and chipset can be strong features on the Galaxy A03s, they don’t get much attention from users. There aren’t any spectacular features worth mentioning, but it’s interesting to know that you’ll get some premium services, including Samsung Health, Samsung Members, and Smart Switch. There shouldn’t be a lot of enthusiasm for these features because most Samsung phones come with these starter features. This 4G product is available especially in India, but you also have alternatives. If you are looking for an alternative our recommendation would be the OnePlus Nord N200 smartphone. Every device has some decent features that are worth your money and everyone’s purposes of use.

Samsung Galaxy A03s is a basic entry smartphone with a big 6.5-inch Infinity-V Display and long battery life. It is a budget smartphone thus this is not expected to be a smartphone with cutting edge new technology, but a functional smartphone with all the basics equipped. Although positioned as an entry-level, Samsung Galaxy A03s is still equipped with popular design elements.
