Multiple YouTube channels have recently dropped raw Phantom Blade Zero footage from S-Game’s two-day “S-Party event” in Beijing, held on July 26–27, 2025. The gameplay featured a hands-on demo, providing gamers with detailed insights about the Wuxia action RPG, which, according to the director, centered around a singular side quest.
YouTubers, including Punish (linked below), have uploaded 50–60 minutes of demo playthroughs, showcasing the game’s raw chaotic combat, intricate level design, an incredible rock-infused soundtrack, and engaging boss battles.
The gameplay revealed a “Seven Star Sword Formation” level packed with secret boss battles, hidden items, and weapons like the Soft Snake and White Serpent & Crimson Viper, which were previously introduced in a January 2025 trailer.
According to attendees, the demo featured three difficulty options: Wayfarer, Gamechanger, and Hellwaker, which is exclusive to NewGame+. Attendees who got to try out the demo noted that Gamechanger kicked things up a notch, with some players finding it difficult to even beat the first boss.
Players can swap weapons on the go, mixing light and heavy attacks, parrying enemy attacks, and building an EX gauge meter, unlike stamina bars seen in other similar titles. The hype around the game also benefits from gamer expectations surrounding a resurgent Chinese video game development scene, fueled by titles such as Black Myth: Wukong, but Phantom Blade Zero is eager to carve its own path as a “Wuxia Action Game,” as S-Game’s CEO, Soulframe Liang, stated:
“We stumbled onto a path we never expected… creating something that felt deeply similar to us, yet is rarely seen or experienced in games”
S-Game claims Phantom Blade Zero will be content-heavy, offering a 30–40 hour campaign plus multiplayer end-game content featuring boss rushes and roguelike dungeons.
According to Liang, the game isn’t a Soulslike or traditional action ARPG. Instead, it’s a unique amalgam of Devil May Cry, Sekiro, and Ninja Gaiden. And the recent 60-minute footage supports this vision.
Those eager to get an early sneak peek at Phantom Blade Zero can get a hands-on preview thanks to a playable demo on offer at Gamescom 2025, which happens between August 20 and 24, in Cologne, Germany. S-Game will host a 500m² booth in Hall 6 (B-050G) consisting of 60 demo stations.
More gameplay footage is potentially on the horizon as additional showcases for Phantom Blade Zero are slated at ChinaJoy 2025, taking place August 1–4, and Tokyo Game Show 2025, scheduled for September 25–28.
