Google's Pixel 6 smartphone may be almost two-years old at this point, but that doesn't diminish its performance at all — it's still a fast, well-built smartphone loaded with Google smarts. While it's not the go-to recommendation for a 2023 Android upgrade, it's got banging value at US$240, even if it is a refurbished model.

When the Google Pixel 6 launched in 2021, it represented a few "firsts" for Google Pixel devices. It was the first time Google had engineered a custom SoC for its smartphone, and it was the first time in a long time Google had updated the main camera sensor on its flagship device. It also significantly switched up the design of the Pixel line-up, introducing glass backs and the now-infamous camera bar across the back of the phone. While the Google Pixel 6 wasn't without its issues, the hardware changes resulted in some noticeable performance gains that led Notebookcheck to recommend the device in our review.

The Pixel 6 is on sale on Amazon, both new-in-box and refurbished, but the refurbished Pixel 6 is up to 45% off. While the discounts apply, the Sorta Seafoam version of the Google Pixel 6 is available for just US$239.99 on Amazon, while the Stormy Black and Kinda Coral come in at US$259 and 258.95, respectively — significantly less than both the Pixel 6 launch price and the Pixel 7a's MSRP.

If you were paying attention at the time of the Pixel 6 launch, you'll have heard much about the software issues faced by early adopters, but as the device has been updated, many of the bugs and glitches have been ironed out, turning the Pixel 6 into the flagship it was meant to be.

The Pixel 6 features 8 GB of RAM, a powerful dual-camera setup with a 50 MP main sensor and a 12 MP ultra-wide unit, and a 6.4-inch, 90 Hz OLED display for smooth visuals. Despite having been around for a while already, the Pixel 6 is guaranteed to receive Android version updates for another year and security updates for another three years.

While 45% off sounds rather tantalising, it's important to note that there are a few caveats to be aware of when you buy Amazon Renewed devices. Firstly, excellent condition only means that there is no appreciable damage to the screen or body from 12 inches away. Generally, this is not a huge deal, but it might mean you'll have to live with a few small flaws. Additionally, and perhaps more importantly, refurbished devices aren't guaranteed to retain any ingress protection ratings, so you potentially lose some peace of mind in that regard.
