Redmi Watch 5 Lite launches as cheap GPS smartwatch with Bluetooth calling and AMOLED screen

The Redmi Watch 5 Lite has launched in India with a price tag of INR 3,999, about $48. While this makes the new smartwatch cheaper than options like the CMF Watch Pro 2, it's packed with features. The design is similar to the Active variant, but it comes with an AMOLED screen instead of an LCD panel.

Speaking of the AMOLED screen, it's 1.96-inch in size and features a 600 nits of peak brightness rating. There is support for an always-on display (AOD), and Xiaomi says that the smartwatch has over 30 watch faces that are designed for this AOD feature.

Beyond those, the Redmi Watch 5 Lite has over 50 customizable watch faces and more than 200 total watch faces. As for the software, the smartwatch runs on HyperOS, integrating seamlessly with Xiaomi smartphones that have the company's latest Android skin.

Xiaomi says that the Redmi Watch 5 Lite is compatible with any smartphone running Android 6 and above or iOS 12 and above. The wearable also comes with Alexa built-in, offering easy access to Amazon's virtual assistant.

On that note, the Redmi Watch 5 Lite has two microphones that are there to capture voice commands and handle Bluetooth calling. Xiaomi says that these two microphones are paired with environmental noise cancellation to ensure clear voice capture during calls.

Besides that, the Redmi Watch 5 Lite features heart rate and SpO2 sensors. For fitness tracking, it has over 150 sports modes. The smartwatch even has a 5 ATM water resistance rating, making it ideal for swimming.

Other highlights of the smartwatch include built-in GPS, two color options, and up to 18 days of battery life under typical use.
