Recently leaked Meizu M5c may launch on May 23
A few days ago, we reported a leak of the Meizu M5c touting it to be released in a host of colors, red included. The company's Twitter account recently tweeted an image of the letter "C", with a caption of "May 23", further validating earlier claims of a May 23 release.
Meizu's M5 was a solid mid-range device at the time of its release and the company will be hoping to build on its success with the lower-priced M5c. Meizu, known for producing impressive mid-range devices, would be making their first foray into the entry-level market with the M5c.
"Up until 2015, we had never launched a phone below $275. Making a phone below that price simply wouldn't offer a great user experience, so we focused on higher-priced segments instead." Ard Boudeling, head of Global Marketing at Meizu, was reported as saying. "Over time, however, the smartphone market quickly developed, and so did the affordability of quality components. As a result, we're now able to bring devices that meet our quality standard to more people than ever before. Our product launch on May 23rd will stand testament to that."
The M5c will sport a 5" HD display, 2GB of RAM, 16GB of storage, and a MediaTek MT6737 SoC. It is also speculated to carry an 8MP rear camera, 5MP front-facing camera, and Meizu's patented mBack button. Prices are unconfirmed at the moment.
