Despite opting for high-end features such as 240-watt fast charging, 1 TB of UFS 4.0 storage, an OIS camera system, and tri-band GPS, the Realme GT5 can be had for a comparatively reasonable price. Our review reveals where the $550 flagship killer's weaknesses are to be found.

Sadly, the global market will once again miss Realme's top-end smartphone. The company has confirmed with us it has no plans on launching the GT5 outside of China, and that's unfortunate because the handset is a pretty solid all-rounder. However, it does seem to be a marginal upgrade over its predecessor, and aside from a couple of cosmetic changes and a more powerful, the GT5 is almost identical to its predecessor, the GT3. In a sense, the Realme GT5 240W is a tech showcase more than anything else. It seems like the charging tech is the centerpiece feature, and the phone is an afterthought. But the 240W charging was introduced with last year's GT3, so it's not really all that new. The regular GT5 with 150W fast charging may pose a better value as it's cheaper and has a bigger battery. One could make a case for the GT5 being a good all-rounder with flagship-worthy hardware (display, chipset, charging and main camera), but the feature set from other competitors is much more enticing.

If you want a flagship smartphone with the latest and greatest specs but you are under a tight budget, then the new Realme GT5 and GT5 240W smartphones are the best flagship choices for you at this moment. These smartphones not only provide the best processor for a speedy user experience and superior gaming but also provide other equally capable components to serve a great user experience. That’s all Realme wanted. They wanted to cater this smartphone to the niche mobile gaming industry and we believe they have cracked the formula. Apart from this, the smartphone also arrives with a balanced camera setup. Speaking of downsides, there is the absence of fast wireless charging and reverse charging support on the device. Anyways, the device performs well enough in all departments. And they did so at a price that is simply unbeatable. That’s what makes this smartphone so appealing.

The Realme GT 5 Pro is a true flagship smartphone that not only has the top-level specs but also has the bells and whistles to make it a true flagship, including eco leather body, Dolby Atmos, wireless charging, and even dust and water resistance. On top of that, you get a fantastic camera experience, if you can ignore the average ultra-wide camera. Talking about the disadvantages, the phone does not come with Gorilla Glass protection and reverse wireless charging support. Now that is acceptable because you can’t get everything, especially not at this price range. Users looking for the best camera phone in a decent price range can opt for the Realme GT 5 Pro. If you want an alternative to this, then you can check out the ZTE Nubia Z60 Ultra. However, the final decision is up to you, so it is better to choose a smartphone based on your requirements and needs.

The Realme GT5 Pro may not be available outside of its home market, but it's a nice showcase of what's to come from Realme or its sister brands. The display is every bit as remarkable as promised, battery life is top-notch, and charging also leaves little to be desired - both in speed and method. The palm recognition and air gestures aren't game-changers, but it doesn't hurt to have them. The IP64 rating is a welcome addition, too, even if Realme stops short of promising submersion-grade water resistance. Now, we were less than thrilled with the GT5 Pro's ultrawide camera performance, which doesn't quite match the model's cameraphone aspirations. Video recording, in general, was in many ways not up to scratch either. But we were particularly fond of the handsets still from the main camera and the telephoto, and the zoom camera's close-focusing capability is most welcome. In the end, we don't mind if China keeps the GT5 Pro to itself. We'd be happy to welcome the improved version when that's ready.
