Realistic co-op shooter with intense house-to-house combat returns to its lowest price on Steam

Six Days in Fallujah places players in the role of a US Marine during the Second Battle of Fallujah in 2004. The game adopts a documentary-style approach, incorporating interviews with veterans to portray the events as authentically as possible. This emphasis on realism sparked heated debate even before its release. The German gaming magazine PC Games went so far as to call it the “most controversial shooter of the year.”
In terms of gameplay, Six Days in Fallujah focuses on intense house-to-house combat in four-player co-op. One of its standout elements is the sound design: radio chatter, echoing interiors, and so-called blast trauma effects combine with detailed visuals to create a heavy, unsettling atmosphere. After an explosion, for example, thick clouds of dust fill confined spaces, sharply reducing visibility and making the ensuing close-quarters combat even more tense.
According to user reviews on Steam, the number of available missions remains fairly limited. However, the procedurally generated environments ensure that no two operations unfold in exactly the same way. There are no fixed building layouts, meaning players cannot rely on familiar floor plans. This unpredictability adds another layer of tension to the already intense close-quarters combat.
On Steam, Six Days in Fallujah currently holds an 80% positive rating based on more than 15,800 user reviews. Players particularly praise the intense firefights, exceptional sound design, and strong emphasis on tactical co-op gameplay. At the same time, some reviews cite inconsistent enemy AI and a relatively limited amount of content as the game’s main drawbacks.
The steep difficulty curve is also worth noting and is likely to appeal to players seeking a tough, uncompromising challenge. That said, the game is less suited to solo play. While Six Days in Fallujah can be played alone, unreliable AI teammates combined with the demanding gameplay often result in frustration.
35% discount on Steam
Six Days in Fallujah is being developed by the US-based studio Highwire Games, with Victura serving as publisher. The game entered Early Access in June 2023. A full release was originally targeted for late 2025, but that window was missed and development remains ongoing.
The co-op shooter typically sells for around $40 on Steam. However, it is currently available at 35% off, bringing it down to $25.99 until March 6. According to SteamDB, this matches its previous lowest price, which was last available in early January. The game is currently rated “Playable” on the Steam Deck (available on Amazon for around $650).
